Looking to freshen up your RV with some simple caravan hacks? You’ve come to the right place …
Isn’t it great to shake things up sometimes? A spring clean of your home, a new haircut and an upgraded RV space? “Slow down, money bags!” I hear you say. “You think I have the money to remodel my RV?” Of course, I’d never assume. Which is why instead, I want to let you in on a little secret. You don’t have to break the bank in order to upgrade your RV.
There are tonnes of simple, little ways to upgrade your space and freshen up the interior of your RV for the better. Have I piqued your interest yet? Read on and see if any of these caravan hacks catch your eye.
1. Let there be light
One very simple hack to freshen up your caravan involves you changing lightbulbs. Perhaps they’re too dim and you’re struggling to read your book at night. Or alternatively, they’re too bright and you feel like you’re under interrogation. Swap out the lights with bright and powerful LEDs or with calming, warm-hued lights to freshen up your interior.
Take a geez at what options Narva have for RV and Interior lighting, including awning and porch lamps, interior panel and strip lights, pendant lamps and swivel lamps. LED lights don’t generate as much heat as a traditional bulb, which in turn, keeps your interior cooler. Who knew a simple caravan light hack could have so much impact?
Light colour can also have a very beneficial function, such as deterring bugs. Amber lights emit a warm, orange light that is relaxing and easier on the eyes. It’s also far less exciting to insects, especially mozzies. Insects are naturally drawn to bright, blue and white lights, and are very uninterested in warm hues. Check out Perception Lighting’s orange range rigid LED camp light strip that’s compatible with all perception dimmers, extension leads, splitters and cigarette lighter adapters.
2. Replace the mattress
Most RVs come with a mattress, but I can’t guarantee that yours will be comfortable or up to your standards. So if you have a few snoozes and come to the conclusion that you want to swap out your mattress, this simple and easy caravan hack will really transform both your space and experience in your RV.
The difference between caravan mattresses and residential mattresses is that they’re designed to fit into tighter spaces. Therefore, if you’re looking to upgrade your mattress, it’s important to seek one that’s made to measure. Matilda Mattresses and Slumberest both make their mattresses to order to ensure you’re getting exactly what you need.
You have the ability to decide what price point you’re happy to pay, what level of comfort you want and what mattress height you want.
3. Replace your showerhead
Shivering in the shower under a low-pressure shower head is definitely not the pre-bed ritual I look forward to after a big day of adventuring. One simple and easy way to hack your caravan bathroom is to replace your shower head. You can even find models that effectively save water, while maintaining great pressure, allowing you to enjoy your shower with a little less stress about emptying your water tanks.
4. DIY your walls with peel-and-stick splashback
When it comes to modifying your caravan with a clever hack, you need to keep in mind the weight constraints that come with making any changes. Let’s say you want to upgrade your kitchen to look a little less mobile home and a little more fresh, tiled and white. Ceramic tiles certainly aren’t going to cut it. However, peel-and-stick tiles are both an affordable and easy DIY option that can take your RV kitchen from shabby to stylish in an instant.
Considering your caravan is on the go, any decorations must be fixed and flexible. If not, potholes or bumps in the road can mean your beloved interior design falls apart. Peel-and-stick tiles will give you the same look as ceramic tiles would while being lightweight and utilising durable adhesive that’ll last many adventures to come.

5. Invest in an RV lock
Beachside caravan parks are one of my favourite places to spend a weekend. This is thanks to the waves crashing in the distance, the scent of salt in the air and of course, the Instagram-worthy sunsets over the horizon. However, one of the most annoying things (that I pretty much always do) is lose my caravan keys in the sand. And you don’t want to be the one going out there with a metal detector for hours on end to find them.
One way to keep your caravan secured while you’re away enjoying your holiday is to upgrade it with an RV lock. You can unlock it with a remote fob from a 20-metre radius, via a digital keypad, or even an old-fashioned key if that is what you prefer.
