I may be a little biased, as I’ve grown up close to the beach and currently rent a stone’s throw away from the shoreline. However, science also backs my opinion that being by the ocean is a major plus for your mental state. Sea air is generally cleaner and fresher, with higher levels of oxygen and listening to crashing waves activates the parasympathetic nervous system. Not to mention, numerous studies have shown that staring at the ocean affects brain waves’ frequency, putting people into a meditative state.

Why am I hitting you with all these facts about the ocean and its impact on your mental health? Well, I’m a huge advocate for packing my bags and heading off for a camping trip when life gets a little too much. I personally like to double whammy the relaxation time by hitting up a beachside caravan park so the ocean can work its magic. It comes so highly recommended by me that I wanted to bring you a list of some of the most serene caravan parks with beachside views. Check them out and be sure to let me know if you pay any a visit!

Ingenia Holidays Merry Beach, NSW

We recently towed our Jayco out to Merry Beach to stay at Ingenia Holidays Merry Beach Caravan Park, so I can tell you firsthand what I liked about this one. You have the option to book a grassed beach front or beach view site, either powered or unpowered. If you don’t want your view obstructed by any other caravans or vehicles, I’d recommend you select beach front. Unfortunately those spots had all booked out when I jumped online. But the beach view site was still beautiful as we were mere metres from the beach! The sound of the rolling waves emulated all throughout the caravan park, so we fell asleep to the calming sound each night.

Other than the proximity to the beach, this caravan park features a playground for the little ones and a pool area. Pets are allowed so there are plenty of furry friends around, as well as mobs of kangaroos who are friendly as pie. Needless to say, I spent most of my time at the beach reading my book.

NRMA Batemans Bay Holiday Resort, NSW

With direct access to the sheltered waters of Corrigans Beach, you can tow your caravan or camper trailer away for a little slice of happiness at NRMA Batemans Bay Holiday Resort. They call themselves “a waterfront haven where you can finally let your hair down” which to me sounds more and more enticing as the year goes on. You can choose from a range of unpowered and powered caravan site options.

If you get over spending time on the beach, the lagoon-style swimming pool and mini golf course will keep you entertained and most of all, relaxed!

Ingenia Holidays Eden Beachfront, NSW

Located on Twofold Bay, at Eden Beachfront Holiday Park you’ll have direct access to Legges Beach. This caravan park offers a range of powered campsites and camping grounds that are located between Twofold Bay and Shadrack Creek. You can choose the site that suits you best, but for dreamy ocean views we reckon you’d be keen on the powered beach site. Who can really say no to watching the sun set over the ocean while you’re perched up on a camp chair, ideally surrounded by good company, gourmet cheese and some delicious wine?

Horrocks Beach Caravan Park, WA

If you find yourself travelling the west coast of Australia, Horrocks Beach Caravan Park may be a stunning spot to stop, relax and rejuvenate for a few days. Located in the coastal town of Horrocks between Kalbarri and Geraldton, you can enjoy the stunning blue views of the ocean you’ll receive while staying at this caravan park. Choose from powered or unpowered caravan sites.

If you’re looking for more to do other than gazing at the waves rolling in, check out the golf course, tennis courts and lawn bowls that the caravan park is adjacent to.

Coolum Beach Holiday Park, QLD

If you want uninterrupted ocean views, direct access to Coolum Beach and of course the sound of the waves crashing, you can’t go past Coolum Beach Holiday Park. Set on ten acres of pristine beachfront land, this idyllic holiday park is the perfect spot to head off to with the whole family in tow. You’re not completely isolated to the sand, the park is within easy walking distance to shops and restaurants. The Surf Club is also nearby, as well as the Coolum Beach Bowls.

The park has powered sites available for booking. As well as large sites that cater for RVs, buses and 5th-wheelers. Simply contact the park to discuss and they’ll be able to push you in the right direction.

So regardless of whether the the sun is pumping in the middle of summer. Or a cool breeze is passing by during a chilly winter. I reckon a beachside caravan park is the best spot to take off to and relax. Ocean views and the sound of crashing waves are two highlights I’ll never pass up an opportunity to experience.
