The new TRAKKA Akuna A2M-E motorhome makes it easier to get off-road

The new TRAKKA Akuna A2M-E all-wheel-drive (AWD) motorhome is here and we delve into the nitty-gritty of what you can expect.
This isn’t the first time that TRAKKA has delivered a quality compact motorhome based on the Volkswagon Crafter, but this is the first time an off-road AWD variant has been offered. The new TRAKKA Akuna A2M-E could be just the ticket you need to van life in the wilderness, featuring a GVM upgrade, rear diff lock and Hill Descent Assist as standard.
Both the driver and passenger seats swivel on the TRAKKA Akuna A2M-E, which opens up the cab when it comes time for camping. Inside you’ll find a fridge, microwave, bathroom and kitchen.
The bedding layout at the rear of the van is quite versatile, allowing you to choose between north/south single beds or a large double bed at night. Daytime sees the sleeping area convert to a lounge area with a removable swivel table for dining.
Find three shelved overhead lockers above the bed on each side with the modern roller shutter doors that TRAKKA is known for. Extra storage can be found under the bed/s.
An E-pack comes standard in the Trakka Akuna A2M models and includes:
As the Australian distributor for German-engineered off-road equipment, Seikel, TRAKKA have been using this gear in their Trakkadu pop-top range. For those who like a bit of adventure, this same gear can now be optioned in the TRAKKA Akuna.
Options include:
When the weather is great and you want to spend time outdoors, the electric awning is a huge bonus. Upgrade the TRAKKA Akuna A2M-E with an outdoor hot/cold wash-up and shower facility as well as an outdoor workbench.
When the weather is not so great or you need to hide from mosquitoes and/or flies, do this by making use of the concertina-style sliding insect doors on the side and rear.
You’ll never find a bathroom like a stay at the Hilton in any compact motorhome but TRAKKA Akuna’s A2M features a surprisingly roomy toilet/shower combo. The extra wide offset entrance goes a long way to curing your compact bathroom claustrophobia with a height of 1840mm and width of 800mm.
You’ll also find an opening skylight, hidden storage options for your toiletries, ducted heating and towel/toilet paper rails.
TRAKKA have a few different features for the Akuna range that make it a little different to other compact motorhomes on the market. Eliminating the need for LPG, the TRAKKA A2M-E is a single fuel-sourced vehicle with water and ducted heating drawing efficiently from the vehicle’s diesel tank.
200W of roof-mounted solar help you to stay in the wilderness longer and closed-cell foam insulation help to regulate temperature.
Interiors styling niceties include soft-close draws, LED lighting system, flush light switches and thin, water-resistant bench and table tops.
A new TRAKKA Akuna A2M-E (AWD) will set you back around $161,144 drive-away. However, if you’re not planning on heading off-road and are happy with the 2WD version, this comes in at around $148,904.
