Nissan might be one of the first manufacturers to bring its full-size ute to Australia. You can currently buy these units through speciality importers, however, there is no pure factory option (yet). Nissan’s chief of LCVs, Ashwani Gupta, told media recently he thinks Australians are developing a taste for the full-size ute, and the Titan could be a good addition to Nissan’s showroom floors. The Titan runs a similar engine and gearbox to the Nissan Patrol, a 298kW 5.6-litre petrol V8, but importantly, the Titan also comes with a diesel option, the 5.0-litre Cummins V8 that makes 235kW and 752Nm. Many yearn to have this donk in the Patrol.
If they do it, Nissan will be the first to bring their full-sized option to Australia. While these utes have a similar payload to our current crop of utes, they have much bigger payloads and space overall. And while that space (and the engine that comes with it) is awesome, there are limitations that come with a big rig. What do you think? Is a full-size ute the right fit for Australia?
