We tried and tested the Aussie-made Dunny Buddy.  This one was too good not to share!

The only thing damp, unravelled, dirty and squashed dunny paper is good for wiping is the smile off your face. There’s roughing it, and then there’s roughing it, right? The good news is, that you don’t have to double rough it any more thanks to this awesome Aussie-designed and made product that keeps your toilet paper five-star.

Basically, it’s body armour for your loo roll. Rather than go into a lengthy explanation about why Dunny Buddy is great for caravanners and campers, check out this video that shows you exactly why in 36 short and sweet seconds.

See, I told you it was good.

Here are some other reasons why Dunny Buddy is awesome

Dunny Buddy is 100% designed, created and packaged in Australia

Yep, this isn’t just greenwashing.  Dunny Buddy was designed in Australia and is both made and packaged in Australia. In fact, Darren from Dunny Buddy said recently at the Melbourne 4×4 show, “It was always our goal to produce it here in Melbourne,” adding that every part of it from design, packaging and product is made within 22 kilometres of each other in Melbourne.

No more soggy Sorbent

The hard rugged case protects your toilet paper from the elements and allows you to transport, store and use the toilet paper roll without it getting squashed, dirty, damp or unravelling. Like I said before, it’s like body armour for your dunny paper that ensures it remains five-star.

Dunny Buddy features a sliding window that allows you to lock up the loo roll safe and snug. Instant access is granted by lifting the window which you reseal again when you’ve finished doing your business.

You can hang and use it in a multitude of ways

I like to install my roll under and will never understand those who like to hang it over. Fortunately, Dunny Buddy doesn’t judge and you can hang it either way. You can even hang it sideways.

When it comes to transporting the Dunny Buddy and hanging it for easy access, the removable handle is a fine feature. Another trick is to remove the two end plugs and use the secret storage area space in the middle to impale the whole thing on a stick or branch near your portable camp toilet or hole in the ground.

Wait, there’s a secret storage area?

Yep, Dunny Buddy also has a secret storage area

The design allows for a secret central storage area for small items. Here you can store personal things such as hand sanitiser, tampons, a pen torch, medication or even a few unique-smelling smokes if you’re that way inclined.

As long as the item is not over 28mm (W) x 70mm (L), you should be able to hide it in there away from prying eyes.

It’s made from ABS

Because Dunny Buddy is made from ABS, it will last a really long time. In case you’re wondering, ABS is a common thermoplastic polymer found in PC monitors, TV cases and mobile phones. The good news? It’s 100% recyclable.

Obviously, you will want to avoid placing Dunny Buddy under heavy objects and don’t leave it sitting in hot sunny conditions over 50 degrees celcius. I mean it’s an awesome product but it’s not frikking superman.

It’s great for more than just RVing

Although Dunny Buddy was originally designed for adventurous bums in the camping and caravan space, it’s found to be useful in a number of situations including:

  • On boats
  • In the car for roadside emergency toilet stops
  • In the car for public toilets where there is no toilet paper
  • Tradesmen who have to use a worksite portaloo
  • Anyone with kids who still have their learners when it comes to toileting

It fits most toilet rolls

Dunny Buddy fits a standard-size toilet roll with a maximum diameter of 11.5cm and a maximum width of 10cm. We tried and tested it with a standard Sorbent roll and it fits snug as a bug in a rug… but not so snug that it won’t roll when you give it a tug.

Wow, that was poetic, wasn’t it?

Important information

So where can you get your own Dunny Buddy?

More importantly, will you need to sell an arm, kidney, leg or child to afford one?

Heck no.  They’re only $39 with a $10 flat rate for shipping. That’s pretty decent for a five-star loo roll in my opinion.
