Owners take note, and book yourself into your local dealer.

Ford has issued a recall for the Ranger ute and Territory SUV, owing to a dodgy output shaft speed sensor. This affects the PX Ranger (not the current PXII), built between November 2011 to November 7, 2012. Ford Territory models built between September 19, 2011 and February 5, 2013 are also affected.

The speed sensor on the output shaft of these vehicles can fail, which can make the vehicle automatically shift down into first gear. Owners are being contacted by mail, and in the meantime are urged to drive the vehicles “with caution and at moderate speed.”
