Patriot Campers has recalled 62 ST5 and ST7 trailers in Australia after a manufacturing defect was identified that could lead to a loss of trailer control or cause the trailer to detach from the tow vehicle. The recall notice, published on 3 November 2026, covers all variants of both models within the 2025-2026 year range. Owners can check whether their trailer is affected using the official VIN list.
What’s wrong with the rear hubs?
The bolts securing the rear wheel hubs may have been under-tightened during manufacture. The bolts can loosen or break over time, allowing the wheel hub and brake assembly to separate while the trailer is being towed. The recall notice warns that this increases the risk of a crash that could cause serious injury or death.
What should Patriot Campers owners do?
If you own a 2025 or 2026 Supertourer ST5 or ST7, start by checking your trailer’s VIN against the official recall list. If it’s listed, Patriot Campers’ advice depends on whether the trailer is already in use.
- If the trailer is parked up, Patriot advises leaving it parked until the recall repair is complete.
- If the trailer is already in use, Patriot advises checking the rear hub bolts on both sides to 90 Nm maximum with a calibrated torque wrench, following the circular sequence in its instructions. Limit use until the repair is complete and recheck the torque regularly if you must keep using the trailer. If a bolt is missing, damaged or won’t tighten, contact Patriot before using the trailer.
- If you don’t have a torque wrench, Patriot says a visual inspection is an option for a trip directly to a service centre, provided both hubs pass all the checks in its notice.
- If the trailer is up for sale, Patriot says the recall repair must be completed before ownership changes.
The 90 Nm check is temporary. The permanent repair replaces four hub bolts and washers on each side. Patriot specifies 125 Nm for the replacement bolts only. The company can arrange a repairer or technician at no cost or supply a free kit to owners who have the tools and are comfortable following its repair instructions.
