Gearbox problems for a 9-month batch of Rangers under the spotlight.
Ford has issued a recall for its successful and popular Ranger ute, for a problem with the
six-speed manual gearbox. It’s a classic case of something tiny causing potentially big problems. The gearshift cable retaining clip might not be properly fastened, which can leady to shifting problems and a potential loss of drive. Ford does note that there have not been any reported failures associated with this recall so far, so it sounds like they are getting on the front foot with the fix. Vehicles manufactured between June 5, 2015 and February 12, 2016 are affected. Obviously, the recall is only those with manual gearboxes. If you’re on the list, or you aren’t sure, get in touch with your local Ford dealership service department and speak with them about getting booked in for a fix.
