With the Big Red Bash finishing up for another year and the Mundi Mundi coming up, along with a sleuth of other RV-friendly festivals, it’s time to get prepared for the festival and events season. You’ve already got your RV sorted, so let’s talk about festival camping accessories. Here’s 10 you’ll wish you’d bought sooner!
1. Cooler on wheels
You’re going to be set up in the concert area for some time, and the last thing you want to do is lose your great spot when you need a drink refill. You can, of course, use any old esky, but carrying it fully loaded from your RV to the concert area is a bit of a mission. Do you see where I’m going with this festival camping accessory? A cooler on wheels simply solves the problem.
2. Portable solar
Most sites at music camping festivals are unpowered so if you want to keep your essentials charged, like phones, cameras and your portable fridge, you’re most likely going to need a bit more help from the sun. You could use a generator, but many festivals don’t allow them due to the close camping quarters and the noise. This festival camping accessory will get plenty of use long after the festival is over.
3. BBQ arm kit
Camping music festivals are a social affair, and this BBQ arm kit accessory makes cooking outdoors with your friends and family even easier. It mounts to your caravan drawbar or rear bar to create a sturdy ‘out of the way’ place for your BBQ or gas cooker. Simply swing it away when you’re not using it.
4. Caravan awning privacy screen
Sometimes you want to block the afternoon sun, and sometimes, you just want some privacy from your nosy camping neighbour. Either way, a caravan awning privacy screen is one festival camping accessory that you’ll get plenty of use out of wherever you travel in your RV.
5. Spare cassette for your toilet
Now, I know music camping festivals have toilets, but if you’ve ever been to one, you’ll know they’re pretty gross by the end of the festival, despite the great job the volunteers do in trying to keep them clean and smell-free. It is what it is! If you’re going to be camping for longer than a few days at a festival, a spare cassette for your toilet is the ultimate accessory. This, of course, will allow you to camp off-grid for longer in the future as well. However, if you’d like to go longer between emptying your toilet, consider a composting toilet for caravans.
6. Muk Mat
I love it when I feel sand in my bed said no one ever. This one’s a no-brainer. Just get a Muk Mat and teach your partner and kids to wipe their feet properly.
7. Wine Tumbler
Many music camping festivals don’t allow glassware in the concert area, which means you’ll have to ditch the usual wine glass and get an accessory that’s a bit tougher – like this camping wine tumbler.
8. Sirocco fan
As we mentioned above, most camping music festivals offer only unpowered sites, which makes running your air conditioner a bit of an issue. It’s not all bad though, just make sure you’ve got a good quality 12V fan as your backup to take the stuffiness out of the RV.
9. Wheel clamp
The last thing you want to do is head back to your RV at the end of the day to find it’s no longer there. This festival camping accessory will make it less easy for thieves, not just at the festival, but anywhere you travel in your RV.
10. Ear plugs
Last but not least is a simple set of earplugs for the most cost-effective and practical festival camping accessory you’ll find. Camping in close quarters means there is always going to be someone stumbling loudly back to the campsite on at least one night. Block them out for under five buckeroos with some earplugs.
