When it comes to keeping your gear charged on the go, the EcoFlow Delta2 (950) Portable Power Station has been a real game-changer for us. I bought the Delta2 with my own funds (I wasn’t given a freebie to write this review), and it’s proven to be one of the best investments I’ve made for my family for both work and weekend adventures. Whether it’s powering up tools or the smoko oven on a worksite or keeping the camp fridge cold and our devices connected on a camping trip, this little unit has been a winner.

The EcoFlow Delta2 is compact, portable, and packs a serious punch. My husband uses it every day in his work truck, where it recharges his tradie tools, runs the Travel Buddy 12V oven for smoko, and keeps his electronic devices charged. His HiLux already has a dual battery setup that runs a camping fridge permanently, so the EcoFlow Delta2 acts as a second secondary battery – albeit with the benefits of being portable. In this work truck, the Delta2 is being charged by some existing solar panels we had lying around the shed, which we were able to mount on top of the canopy. However, EcoFlow has a range of solar panels that are far better than the ones we are using. More about that further down.
What’s even better is how easily we’ve been able to switch the Delta2 from workday duties to weekend adventures. It really is as simple as unplugging the solar charging lead, lifting it out of the work truck and plonking it in the back of my Jeep. Here, it powers everything from the portable camping fridge to the air compressor to the family’s devices when we’re away.
Why I’ve chosen the Delta2 over a traditional dual battery setup in my vehicle
I’ve recently got a new rig, a Jeep Gladiator, and instead of the usual dual battery setup that I’ve always had in my previous vehicles, I decided to go with the EcoFlow Delta2 Portable Power Station. Why? Because portability is king. I can move it easily between my husband’s work vehicle and my vehicle. It’s the flexibility I never had with a traditional setup. It’s also super handy when we have a power outage at home – bring it inside, and we’ve got backup power without messing around with extension cords or running noisy generators.
I’m even considering getting a second Delta2, just because of how versatile it is and to provide that extra bit of backup on longer trips. If we’re heading out on a big camping trip, it’s easy to bring along, and with the Alternator Charger, there’s no worrying about running out of juice.
Speaking of charging it – there are three main ways
The EcoFlow Alternator Charger
Let’s talk about the EcoFlow Alternator Charger. This is where things get even more interesting. EcoFlow claims to be the first in the industry to come up with a charging solution like this. It allows you to charge the Delta2 straight from your vehicle’s alternator (just like your traditional dual battery setup), which is ideal if you’re always on the go and need reliable power. This means if you’re driving between jobs or heading out on a long road trip, you can have the EcoFlow Delta2 charging up in the back, ready to go. This is ideal for those cloudy days (or rainy weeks) when solar charging is a bit slow.
Of interest here is the ability to see everything on the Eco Flow app and put it into reverse charging mode, giving you the ability to recharge your vehicle starter battery or RV house battery should it get too low.
Charge at home
The EcoFlow Delta2 Portable Power Station can also be charged at home, at a caravan park, or anywhere you have access to 240V mains power.
Solar charging
We’re all familiar with solar charging, but EcoFlow’s range of solar panels are also of interest. I haven’t purchased these yet, but they’re next on the list. Why are they of interest? Well, they offer a Bifacial Solar Panel design, which basically means the back of the solar panel captures ambient light in addition to the primary side, resulting in significantly faster charging.
I’d be keen to get a second EcoFlow Portable Power Station and compare charging times with the Bifacial Solar Panel vs the regular kind. Stay tuned!
The verdict
The EcoFlow Delta2 Portable Power Station has completely changed how we think about portable power. We’ve been using it daily for two months now, and so far, it’s been reliable, quiet and easy to use. The main benefit is its versatility – from a tradie’s worksite to weekend camping trips and even as a backup at home. If you’re in the market for a dual battery setup but want something portable (or perhaps in addition to your existing dual battery setup), this is worth a serious look.
EcoFlow’s innovation in portable power solutions means you don’t have to be stuck with a fixed setup anymore. Give it a go, and see how it fits into your daily adventures.
