Recently we hit up the National 4X4 Outdoors Show in Sydney. Any excuse to get among the coolest innovations in outdoor adventure, right? While there were tonnes of things that caught our attention, we spent most of our time in and among the campers. There was a lot to see, so we’ve listed four that caught our eye.
Air OPUS® OP4
Manually erecting a camper trailer can be both time-consuming and tedious. The Air OPUS® OP4 takes this chore away by utilising the latest air beam technology, allowing the camper canopy and annexe to fully inflate with the touch of a button. Once it’s up, relax on the leatherette interior seating or spread out in the spacious annexe where you can cook up a storm on the fully functional slide-out kitchen.
Handles the terrain like a trooper
A range of off-road features ensures the Air OPUS® OP4 can handle the toughest of terrains. It boasts durable suspension as well as heavy-duty coil springs and dual shock absorbers. At a mere 1370kg, the Air OPUS® OP4 is also light to tow so most standard SUVs or 4WDs can handle it.
Space for both you and your gear
There are two double beds in the camper, with one being able to convert to a luxurious king size. Space is not an issue either with a range of storage compartments inside to choose from.

If you didn’t get the chance to see the Air OPUS® OP4 at the National 4X4 Outdoors Show, you can take a virtual tour here.
You’ll be looking at $34,999 + delivery and on-road cost for the Air OPUS® OP4.
Air OPUS® OP2
Just like the OP4, the Air OPUS® OP2 features the latest air beam technology, allowing for a quick set-up in under 5 minutes. After these campers, I personally can’t see myself manually erecting my camper again!
Interestingly, OPUS uses the same air beam technology that’s used by the US military. It’s not just for convenience, the air beams are much stronger than poles, providing extra durability and reliability for your camping trips.
The Air OPUS® OP2 comes complete with a spacious king-size bed, comfy leatherette seating and ensuite shower room.
Tough enough for the terrain
Mirroring the OP4, the Air OPUS® OP2 also has better ground clearance than some 4WDs and a serious rear departure angle. Although, it’s a little heavier than the OP2 with a tare weight of 1415kg and if you pop on a roof rack, that will increase to 1500kg. Thankfully, it’s still light enough to be towed by most standard SUVs or 4WDs.
If you choose OP2 over OP4, you’ll save roughly $1000. The Air OPUS® OP2 is $33,990 + delivery and on-road cost.

AOR Sierra ZR
The AOR Sierra ZR is the camper trailer for the budget-conscious adventurer or those that already have an array of camping gear. Almost everything is optional, allowing you to bring your own rooftop tent, awning, fridge, BBQ and more. This allows the buyer more flexibility and is the reason the AOR Sierra ZR has achieved an affordable base price.
Brave red dirt and dusty terrains confidently in this one as thanks to good seals and high-quality compression locks, it’s dustproof.
Eat well on the road
The large side-mounted external kitchen area is definitely one of the highlights of the AOR Sierra ZR. It features a designated powered area where you can easily add a fridge, slide-out cooker and/or a slide-out barbeque, giving you choice in how you cook your tucker. If you’re off camping with the whole family, there’s no need to be stepping over each other and bumping arms in the kitchen; the AOR Sierra ZR has a bench with ample space for preparation.
Storing kitchen supplies is no longer a problem either as the camper boasts adjustable aluminium shelving and internal storage.
Stay off-road for longer
The saddest part of a camping trip is having to head home, so why not extend the trip for as long as you can? The AOR Sierra ZR has enough water and storage to remain off-grid for weeks. There’s an incredible 60L of water storage in food poly grade tanks standard with the option to add an extra 140L tank.
The technical stuff
The AOR Sierra ZR features a 150 AMP lithium battery as well as a REDARC RedVision battery management system. If you want to bring in some extra juice, there’s a Red Anderson plug for an external solar panel input.
Light up the road ahead with the dual colour yellow/white LED lights.
AOR Odyssey
Ideal for couples or the adventurous solo traveller, the AOR Odyssey is a pop top hybrid camper ideally towed by a medium size 4WD. Tare weight comes in at 1400kg and tow ball weight is 100kg.
Enjoy a weekend away at the beach or a bush-bash on an off-road track while still maintaining all the luxuries. If you want to spend more time away, there’s an option to add extra water tanks as well as additional storage, twin spare wheels, extra jerry cans and even a bunk for the kids.
The camper has large tinted windows allowing for privacy as well as integrated fly screens to keep those pesky, summer-time pests away.
Cook up some great tucker
In the internal kitchen, there’s a three-burner gas stove with a glass top that maximises your bench space. The 75L fridge is accessible from both the inside and the outside of the camper, so you can grab a beverage no matter where you’re relaxing. A drainboard and large bench space support your cooking preparation needs and once cooked, enjoy your meal at the four-person dinette with velour seating and a large swing-away table.
When it comes to the external kitchen, you’ll find a three burner, a pantry providing ample storage and another large bench, giving you heaps of room.
Let’s get technical
In the AOR Odyssey, you’ll find a 200AMP Lithium battery and a 1000W Pure Sinewave inverter. There are also two 150W solar panels mounted to the roof. Switch on the Sirocco fan to help cool you off on those balmy days out on the road.
There were so many cool and unique campers at the show that it was impossible to capture them all. These were just four of our favourites however we’re excited to see what’s coming out next for us camper-enthusiasts.
