Avida unveils the all-new Explorer LX 4×4 campervan

Avida, Australia’s longest-running motorhome manufacturer still in the hands of the original family, is celebrating a major milestone in 2025 – 60 years of crafting high-quality, Australian-made RVs. To mark the occasion, Avida is introducing its first-ever 4×4 campervan, the Avida Explorer LX 4×4, built for off-grid adventure without compromising comfort.
Designed for those who love to explore the unbeaten path, the Avida 4×4 Explorer LX is built on the Mercedes Sprinter AWD 419 MWB chassis and comes packed with high-spec features, making it one of the most bang-for-buck campervans on the market in its range.
One of the standout features of the Avida 4×4 Explorer LX is its off-grid capability. Avida has equipped the van with a 400W MPPT roof-mounted solar system (expandable to 800W with optional solar blankets), a Victron electrical system, a 3,000VA MultiPlus inverter charger, and 400amp lithium batteries (with an optional upgrade to 600amp).
With no LPG on board, all energy needs are powered by solar and diesel, making it a practical choice for extended stays off-grid. The diesel-powered combination hot water system and air heater, along with rooftop air conditioning, ensure comfort in all climates. In addition, the portable induction cooktop can be used both indoors and outdoors.
The Avida 4×4 Explorer LX blends luxury with practicality. Inside, premium leather upholstery, black fixtures and finishes, and modern lighting create a stylish interior. The fully contained bathroom doubles as a drying room – a practical addition for those returning from a day of adventure with wet gear.
The kitchen is well-equipped, featuring a larger benchtop, a fold-up bench extension, a sink, a fridge-freezer, and ample storage. A lift-up bed allows for additional storage space, complete with tie-down points to secure outdoor gear. The 50” LED driving light bar, rear working lights, full roof rack, rear ladder, and side protection steps reinforce the campervan’s capability for rugged terrain.
For those looking to stay off-grid for longer, the Avida 4×4 Explorer LX features a 170L freshwater capacity split between two tanks – one for drinking water and another for general use. It also boasts a 100L grey water tank.
To suit different adventure styles, Avida offers additional customisations, including extra driving lights, alloy wheels, a snorkel, a front adventure bar, and a winch. These options allow owners to tailor the campervan to their unique travel needs.
