A Nakie Hammock, or any hammock for that matter, might seem like a bit of a luxury item for camping and caravanning but in my opinion, it’s essential. Every time I take our Nakie Hammock on an outdoor adventure, I’m so grateful I did.
Whether you’re car camping, heading off in the caravan or even going on a hike – there’s always room for a hammock. We took two Nakie Hammocks around Australia with us and this is what we love about them.
Nakie Hammocks are compact
Nakie hammocks pack up super small so they don’t take up much room in your set-up. You can pop it in a drawer or in a little nook in your car and away you go.
They come with flat straps instead of rope which are easy to roll up and pack away and the hammock fabric is recycled plastic so it’s really lightweight. The whole thing bundles into a little bag that you can just as easily toss in your backpack as you can into the back of your 4WD.
They’re super easy to set up and adjust
Normally setting up a hammock is a bit of a chore, but Nakie hammocks make it so simple. No need for fancy knots and elaborate ties, just toss the strap over whatever you’re hanging from, attach the carabiner to the end of the hammock and the loop on the strap and you’re in hammock chill mode.
There are loops all the way along the strap which makes it really easy to adjust the length of your hammock and to attach it to anything from trees to verandas to car bull bars to rocks.
Nakie Hammocks are great for the planet
Nakie is huge on protecting the planet which is probably my favourite thing about them. They make their stuff from 100% recycled materials and each double Nakie Hammock contains approx 37 plastic bottles worth of plastic. This equals less plastic in landfill and in the ocean, and now those plastic bottles get a second (long and happy) life as a hammock!
Nakie also aims to reduce carbon emissions by planting four trees for every item purchased. And they aren’t just planting any old trees. They’re focused specifically on the reforestation of native mangroves in North West Madagascar, a country that has only 10% of its original forest left. And they’re taking this commitment seriously. They’ve committed to a minimum five-year reforestation project and are employing locals to help them do it. We love seeing a company take responsibility for the planet.
These hammocks are seriously durable
Over the course of our round Australia trip, our hammocks got pulled in and out of storage, tossed about the back of our truck, and hung out in the wind, dust, rain and sun and they’re still going strong with barely a sign of wear and tear.
All Nakie Hammocks actually come with a lifetime warranty so rest assured you will be getting a good quality, long-lasting product for life.
Nakie Hammocks are super comfy
We spent hours in our Nakie Hammocks on the road relaxing in campgrounds. The material is soft and comfortable and the hammocks are nice and wide so you have plenty of room to stretch out and read a book or watch the stars.
It’s the perfect way to take your camp set up to the next level of comfort while doing your bit for the planet as well.
