We shine a spotlight on the Mountain Trail RV LXV 6.2 luxury off-road caravan
Mountain Trail RV design and manufacture their off-road caravans right here in Australia. To be specific, in Albury, New South Wales. From humble beginnings and a passion for the off-road, Mountain Trail RV has come a long way in nearly two decades, with nearly 50 staff members employed locally.
When a caravan is made, designed and manufactured for off-road in Australia, you know they’re going to handle corrugations and rough tracks and the Mountain Trail RV LXV 6.2 is no exception. Don’t believe that luxury caravans can rough it? Well, have I got the video for you!

Let’s take a good look at the Mountain Trail RV LXV 6.2
The LXV 6.2 is Mountain Trail RV’s most popular tandem. It’s a 20.6 ft luxury full-width, 3.5-tonne caravan designed to allow you to head off-road without sacrificing your home comforts.
The Mountain Trail RV LXV 6.2 is built on an off-road chassis and suspension, featuring MTRV-designed independent trailing air bag swing arm suspension, DO35 coupling and 12-inch electric brakes. Combine this with the comforts of a Queen size pillow top innerspring bed, plenty of storage, microfibre leather finish seats and a separate toilet and ensuite and it’s now more appealing than my actual home.
The suspension features three programmed ride heights and a self-levelling program. This allows the Mountain Trail RV LXV 6.2 to ride at the same level regardless of road conditions or load. The chassis is manufactured and welded on-site in the Albury factory, then hot dip galvanised for extra durability.
Sounds good so far … what about the inside?
LXV 6.2’s internal kitchen has been thoughtfully placed next to a decent-sized window. This allows you to pass food and drinks directly outside to the fold-down food and drinks bar. After all, when the weather is great, you’re not going to want to drink that cold one inside. The kitchen features a dual induction cooktop, under bench microwave, rangehood, sink and water filters as standard.
The seating area is face-to-face with plush microfibre leather seats and a central hub area where you can control all of your entertainment.
Here’s where it gets really good. The full ensuite features a separate toilet and shower, full-sized mirror, sink, and a surprising amount of cabinet space. Yep, the Mountain Trail RV LXV 6.2 really steps up the class here.
One particularly practical feature is the aluminium cabinet carcases. Laser cut from aluminium, they are pressed and secured using rivets. Why is this good? Because no timbers, screws or glue means they hold up over corrugations.
Power
With 480 amps of lithium batteries, 775 watts of roof-mounted solar and a 3000W inverter, the Mountain Trail RV LXV 6.2 appears to go off-grid as well as off-road. A Redarc Redvision Total Vehicle Management System gives you control with touch screens and of course, like most things in life these days, you can monitor everything with your smartphone.
Storage
As well as plenty of storage inside, the integrated front box includes vented dual 20L fuel holders, 9kg gas bottle and a centre section lined with marine carpet.

Of course, it wouldn’t be a luxury caravan with the ability to customise. My favourite? The optional external slide-out kitchen. There’s nothing like cooking outdoors in Australia!
