Let’s take a look at Australian Off Road’s (AOR) micro Sierra Camper.

Australian Off Road has come a long way since its days of producing soft-floor campers in 2000. Since then, this Sunshine Coast-based business has manufactured some of Australia’s most successful campers, from off-roaders to hybrids and in more recent years, the versatile micro campers. Today, we’re shining a spotlight on one of our favourites, the AOR Sierra.

An overview of the AOR Sierra Camper

The Sierra hit the Australian market in 2019 as AOR’s first micro camper, making it the brand’s most versatile vehicle in its collection. Sitting at only 4550mm long, 1950mm wide and 2300mm high, it’s certainly ‘micro’, yet it offers all of the comforts you need and more.

I love how you’re able to purchase the base model and add to it over time; it’s versatile but also realistic. Not everyone wants to throw every dollar at a camper straight off. This way, you can work out what you want from your camper over time and adapt it to meet your own needs. Whether that’s a rooftop tent for your kids, an awning for extra shade or a slide-out BBQ, AOR Sierra’s custom approach is a winner. To top it off, you can BYO or contact the AOR team to fit it for you.

Kitchen

The AOR Sierra features an external, stainless steel kitchen with a preparation bench and sink. One of the stand-out features for me is the amount of storage available; this kitchen has cupboards galore. Those who love their luxuries can opt for the dual slide-out fridge and BBQ or gas stove cooker. Plus, there’s plenty of power for coffee machines or any kitchen applications that take your fancy.

Storage

In addition to the kitchen storage, the front of the camper has been designed as your go-to storage bunker which can be accessed by the sleeping area. Everything is dust-proof, so there’s no need to worry about your clothes and kit getting dirty.

Sleeping

Do comfort and ‘micro’ go together? Though the sleeping arrangement might not be for everyone, AOR has done a good job at making sure you’ve got space, even in this small camper. The fully lockable, dust-proof bunker comfortably sleeps two people. It’s got two large windows for that much-needed ventilation as well as lights, a fan and a 12V/USB combo.

If you’re looking for an extra sleeping room, there’s also an option to add an electrically operated rooftop tent and/or an extra drop-down pod. In a matter of minutes, you could be sleeping four to six people in a vehicle just over four metres long!

Power

Power is no problem in the Sierra. The camper is powered by a 150-amp lithium battery and a REDARC RedVision battery management and automation lets you monitor and control lights via the integrated panel or via the phone app.
