New Age Caravans achieve Vehicle Type Approval

New Age Caravans and Walkinshaw Group have celebrated a significant achievement in the industry. They’ve achieved Vehicle Type Approval on the entire 2022 New Age Caravans range, as per the upcoming Road Vehicle Standards Act (RVSA) introduction scheduled for 2023.
A fair question. Vehicle Type Approval involves design rules that apply across the nation. They mandate minimum safety standards, dimensional requirements, structural requirements as well as performance and emission targets. These apply to all vehicles that are registered for travel on our Australian roads.
You’d assume so. Contrary to this belief Vehicle Type Approval is not compulsory for caravans to be sold in Australia. New Age Caravans decided they wanted to ensure a higher standard of safety and quality for their customers by implementing the RVSA. This means you’ll now find repetition in the manufacturing process for all builds, for a higher peace of mind when it comes to your on-road safety and caravan quality.
New Age Caravans Managing Director, Chris Polites, said “While ADRs are not yet formally mandated by the road vehicle regulators in the caravan industry, it’s something we believe is essential, and that’s why we’ve gone above and beyond what is required. We want all New Age owners to know that their caravan has met the national standards by the governing body, for wherever their journey takes them.”
The Vehicle Type Approval process is relatively new to the caravan industry. However, Walkinshaw Group has been obtaining Vehicle Type Approvals on the automotive side for over 30 years. This makes them both aware of what’s required and how essential it is.
Chris Polites said, “Anyone who is in the market for a caravan should ensure it has Vehicle Type Approvals, for their own safety and peace of mind.”
