On the Cruise – Wayne and Ronnie
It’s taken some time and money – and an engine swap for the Cruiser – but Wayne and Ronnie now reckon their touring set-up is just about right. Wayne and Ronnie Parker, from Safety Bay, WA, began their Aussie travel five years ago after buying a V8 petrol/gas LandCruiser and a 21ft Jayco Stirling caravan. Their debut run headed north west to Karijini and Exmouth.

After this trip Wayne and Ronnie knew that having a petrol/gas vehicle was not the way to go. So upon returning to Perth, Brunswick Diesel set up the Cruiser with a 6.5-litre intercooled Chevy diesel, Allison gearbox, long-range tank, three-inch exhaust, and filter systems. Looking for more storage space, Wayne and Ronnie bought a 24ft Jayco Silverline Outback – a big bold van with the lot. Next up was a 2kVA generator, a new Yamaha 15HP two-stroke outboard and custom boat loader.

“Our favourite places so far are Lake Argyle, then Mataranka,” said Wayne and Ronnie. “We’re now retired and our next big trip will be to the south west then onto the east coast for however long it takes. Say hello to us when you see the van with ‘Cruise, Booze and Snooze’ on the back.”
