OneHitch: the automatic trailer hitch of the future

Unveiled at the Las Vegas Convention Centre Last year, Modal has introduced OneHitch, an innovative automatic hitch mechanism designed to streamline the process of connecting an RV or trailer without needing the driver to even get out of the car.
Designed to be mounted on the trailer tongue, OneHitch consolidates the coupling, electrical, and safety chain functions into a single integrated solution. Modal claims that this device eliminates the hassle associated with hitching and even suggests it might save your marriage too. There’s probably some truth in that.
OneHitch manages all lighting, braking, charging, and data connections bidirectionally with the trailer. It incorporates a built-in safety cable system to ensure a secure attachment between the trailer and the tow vehicle. Initially tailored for the USA market, the product is slated for launch in 2024, with specifications provided in the old British Imperial System of inches and pounds.
The current design accommodates a 2-5/16″ ball size, offering a standard capacity of up to 8,000 lbs (3,628kg) and a heavy-duty capacity of up to 11,000 lbs (11,339kg), compatible with both flat 4-pin or 7-way blade (USA style fittings).
Will we see them in Australia? Probably not anytime soon. Made as a solution for Electric Vehicles, as we all know, Australia is a bit behind the game in that department. OneHitch is currently being produced for the USA market so we’ll let them try it out first, hey?
