For the last few years, MDC have steadily been expanding their camper and hybrid van range. What was once an entry-level brand has become a high-quality player in the touring space, and their new MDC ACPLUS MKIII range is the next step in the company’s, and dare I say entire market segment’s, evolution.
What’s ACPLUS anyway?
Put simply, ACPLUS is a huge step forward in off-grid electrics and provides a big leap in terms of what’s possible to run off your 12V system while in the bush, without the need for shore power. For over a decade, Projecta and MDC have been working side by side in the latter’s camper fit-outs, and they’ve come together to provide up to 1225W of solar, 600Ah of lithium power and 3000W of inverter-provided 240V capability. For those not in the know, this is a metric buttload of available power and charging.
What this translates to is the ability to run a slew of electrical accessories without having to plug a 240V cord from shore power or a gennie. AC, front loader washing machines, diesel heaters, microwaves and induction cooktops – you name it are all able to be run when you’re out the back of beyond. Basically, everything that’s convenient about modern living is now also available in your MDC MKIII camper – the word “gamechanger” gets bandied about way too frequently for my liking, but at the very least this is a big evolutionary step forward for off-grid standards of living.
The amount of power on tap is impressive, but so is the charging side of things. The Projecta DC-DC units offer up to 75A of charge from the tow rig’s alternator or solar, and if you have shore power available, you can be juiced up in record time with 180A of charge from a 240V outlet.
Oh, and it’s all operational and able to be monitored from your smart device or phone too. If you’re a “give me convenience or give me death!” sort of person, the MDC ACPLUS MKIII range is right up your alley my friend.
Already the best-selling 13-foot hybrid in the country, the XL13E now has class-leading electricals, not to mention a bunch of other advancements as well:
AusRV’s 2 and 4-berth 15-footers weren’t left out either, with both copping the full Projecta catalogue to the face, not to mention having a swift follow-up rearrangement of its internals for good measure:
Established in 2005, MDC remains proudly family-owned and operated and has grown to be one of Australia’s largest distributors of campers and caravans, with over 40,000 units sold nationwide across its 8 showrooms.
MDC was the first off-road camper trailer and hybrid caravan importer in Australia to obtain RVMAP Accreditation. Additionally, they’re one of the few manufacturers in the industry to have become an ISO9001 Quality Certified business. In 2021, MDC also launched in the United States with over 13 showrooms and dealers across the country.
