On a road full of oversized rectangles on wheels, the panoramic windows, sleek shape, and small size of a Carpento Caravan make it hard not to sit up and take notice. Predominately sold in Turkey, with thanks to Carlight, they’ve made their way to Australian shores and of course, adhere to all of our standards.
Founded by Faruk Nurcan, who was born in Istanbul in 1966, he has signed numerous high-level projects in the furniture decoration industry for over 30 years. This explains the beautiful interiors!
Why we love the concept of Carpento Caravans
To put it simply, they look really lovely, particularly on the inside, where they exude a European vibe. But more importantly, they’ve managed to package it all into a lightweight and low-profile caravan.
From the outside, the most noticeable feature is the panoramic windows. Providing an immersive view of the surrounding scenery, these windows are perfect for those secluded campsites surrounded by nature or perhaps, a campsite by the beach. Between you and me, the windows make the caravan look a little like one of those cute cleaning robots you see at airports in Japan.
The optional ensuite is surprisingly luxurious for smaller-sized caravans, with an automatic flush cassette toilet, a removable shower head (shower inside or outside), a hand basin, a bathroom cabinet and even a mirror.
In terms of towing, all three models on offer are particularly lightweight, coming in with an ATM of approximately 1,000kg. This means it can be towed by virtually every car on the road. The downside to this towability is that payload is on the light side, varying between 240kg – 280kg, depending on which model you opt for. This won’t be a problem for most as the caravan has everything you need, including a bathroom (optional), fridge/freezer, cooktop, sink, seating and sleeping areas as standard.
A trio of models
There are three Carpento Caravan models on offer, the 310S, 360M and 360D.
