The fancy-dress Patrol gets a new look and inclusions

Coming off the back of the impressive QX80 Monograph concept car at the recent
New York Auto Show, the somewhat toned-down production-ready model takes a design step in the right direction. There will be a new influx of tech on the Infiniti, like lane departure warning, adaptive cruise control and autonomous emergency braking. There will also be blind-spot warning and ‘reverse collision intervention.’ But when your 4WD is as big and ugly as this one, you’d kind of hope everyone stays out of your way. The Infiniti currently gets a monthly sales spanking from the Lexus LX570, but this update could make for stiffer competition. We reckon the Nissan-based product has a better V8 engine, giving you a stonking 298kW and 560Nm from an engine that doesn’t feel like it belongs in a big, heavy V8. Like the Lexus (and Patrol), a big, thirsty V8 is your only option; running through a seven-speed automatic.
