Did you know Garmin has RV-specific GPS navigators?

Garmin released two new RV-specific GPS navigators earlier this year and although we haven’t had a chance to get our hands on one of these yet to do an in-depth review, we take a look at their potential.
You probably already know that Garmin are the experts when it comes to GPS navigation and more recently, wearable technology. Many of you already have a Garmin navigator in your car, particularly if like me, your vehicle is not new enough to come standard with a built-in display.
But did you know that Garmin make RV-specific GPS? No, it’s not just a marketing ploy to sell you a standard navigator. They really do have extra features that are particularly useful for those with a caravan, motorhome or camper trailer.
“We’re excited to offer our very best in navigation for camping enthusiasts,” said Garmin’s vice president of global consumer sales Dan Bartel. “Find the best places to stop along your route, access real-time parking and shower availability at popular travel centres, and enjoy vivid satellite map views upon arrival to easily see the best route for maneuvering your RV.”
Earlier this year, Garmin released two new products in their RV series of GPS navigators, so let’s take a quick squiz.
Let’s talk about their differences first. The RV 895 GPS has an 8-inch screen (measured diagonally) and the RV 1095 boasts a 10-inch screen. Other than the screen size, they both have the same reimagined feature set to help RV drivers maneuver in larger vehicles.
The Garmin RV 895 and RV 1095 GPS navigators allow drivers to input the size and weight of their vehicle, caravan or trailer. This is then taken into account when plotting a route to a destination. The RV GPS navigation system then uses Garmin’s maps to create a custom route that avoids potential obstacles, such as low bridges and tight tunnels. You can even save profiles for multiple vehicles or trailers.
The Garmin RV GPS also warns drivers of possible upcoming steep sections, sharp curves and other potentially dangerous road conditions.
Take advantage of the birds eye aerial views for a smooth arrival when you get to the campground.
One convenient feature of these two RV GPS navigators is the route overview. This allows you to see an overview of your entire route alongside your active route. If you pair your RV GPS with the Garmin Drive app on your phone, you’ll even be able to see the weather up ahead.

Your Garmin GPS RV 895 and RV 1095 come preloaded with a directory of RV parks (both public and private) as well as services and Tripadvisor traveller ratings. Filter your required amenities, such as electricity and showers.
The RV 895 has a suggested retail price of $1129, while the RV 1095 has a suggested retail price of $1,449.
