Damage-free ways to decorate your RV
Although you may own your RV, making permanent changes can adversely affect its resale value. Here’s a bunch that won't.

If you’ve ever lived in a rental home or apartment, you’re probably already familiar with damage-free decorations. Although you may own your RV, making permanent changes can adversely affect its resale value. So in this instance, it’s best to remain safe, not sorry, and only make temporary alterations to your home on wheels. But what does that leave? Here’s a bunch we reckon will increase the aesthetic appeal of your RV without taking any value away in exchange.
Command hook and strips
Recently I battled with the levelling app on my iPhone while balancing on my bedside table trying to stick picture frames above my bed. While it may have destroyed my patience and a good hour of my day, when it comes to moving out of my rental apartment, my landlord will be none the wiser. These strips pull off and leave no trace behind just as quickly and easily as they go on. For this same reason, they’re ideal for hanging decorations in your RV.
Obviously, keep in mind that this is a moving vehicle, so the risk of bumps on the road and potholes means more consideration will need to be applied as to what you stick on your surfaces. Rather than glass picture frames, you might consider hanging macrame art, small shelves, string lights or lightweight curtains. If you’re set on having the faces of your loved ones on the wall get creative with it, such as printing out photographs in polaroid form.
Decorative rugs
Adding a rug to the floor of your RV is one way to add a burst of colour and texture to your home away from home. With an abundance of colour schemes and patterns available on the market, you’ll be spoilt for choice. You can even find thick, good-quality rugs that are versatile and able to be used both indoors and outdoors, making the perfect picnic blanket for the occasion when you want to have a little brie cheese and a glass of bubbly. They’re washable, easily rolled up, and easily stored when you want it to be packed away.
Removable floor tiles
It’s not just the walls that can become a little bland after a while. Changing the flooring in your RV temporarily can be a fun project that will change up the vibes and create a new atmosphere. Consider using removable floor tiles that can be easily and simply installed and removed without making any changes or causing any damage to your original flooring. Temporary, removable tiles also offer you the unique flexibility to make constant changes to the design of your interior that you won’t be afforded with a permanent floor change. So if you’re someone constantly moving your furniture around at home to refresh your space, you’ll probably enjoy switching things up in your RV too.
Removable wall decals and/or temporary wallpaper
Just as we would do with the removable floor tiles, it’s a relatively quick and simple job to add wall decals and temporary wallpaper to your RV walls. Vinyl wall decal is easily applied and removed without leaving any sticky residue behind, making them the perfect temporary addition to your motorhome. Similarly, you can source peel-and-stick wallpaper that adheres to your RV’s walls that also doesn’t leave behind any evidence. Far less permanent than paint and significantly less work, wallpaper and stickers can spice up your interior, add colour and add dimension to your interior.
Add plants
My apartment is currently littered with plants, which the internet tells me is scientifically proven to reduce stress levels and increase air quality. There’s no reason why you can’t add indoor plants to your RV in the same way you incorporate them into your home. Just make sure that they’re strapped up or in a secure place when you’re on the move to ensure they stay rooted in their soil.
Peel and stick countertops
Are your countertops looking a little boring and bland? Add colour, dimension and texture to your RV with some vinyl peel-and-stick countertops. Just as we said with the walls and the floor tiles, peel-and-stick countertops are a temporary solution that’ll spice up your interior without compromising the resale value of your RV. They’re easy to peel and apply, as well as simple and straightforward to remove when you’re ready to replace them with another style or remove them altogether.
As you can see, decorating your RV in order to transform it into a personalised haven on wheels starts with just a few tweaks.
