Clearview Accessories has just unveiled their highly regarded towing mirrors for the Toyota LandCruiser 300 Series. Stock will be ready for order on November 1, 2023, with the LC300 GX and GXL models leading the release.
Following this initial release, Clearview’s towing mirrors for the VX, Sahara, Sahara ZX, and GR Sport models will hit the market on December 1, 2023. Anticipating an unprecedented surge in demand, Clearview has proactively ramped up production capacity at their Melbourne-based assembly line.
Re-setting the benchmark, Clearview mirrors for the Toyota LC300 Series will include Next Gen and Compact towing mirrors. While they will retain all other standard functionalities, the LC300 mirrors will not feature the auto-dimming function due to existing patent constraints.
Available features
The GX model boasts a range of features, including power fold, electric operating glass and integrated LED indicators. Meanwhile, the GXL model offers additional perks. These include an auto-tilting function when reversing, blind spot monitoring, heated glass and puddle lights as an aftermarket inclusion.
For the VC model, Clearview has incorporated 360 Camera provision, auto-tilt when reversing, blind spot monitoring, heated glass, power fold, puddle lights, electric operating glass and integrated LED indicators.
Customers opting for the Sahara, Sahara ZX and GR Sport models will enjoy memory function, 360 camera provision, auto-tilting reverse function, blind-spot monitoring, heated glass, power fold, electric operating glass, puddle lights and integrated LED indicators.
Compact vs Next Gen towing mirrors
Compact towing mirrors are just like your factory mirror but much better, boasting a large single convex mirror and the extra visibility that Clearview’s extension provides.
The Next Gen towing mirrors are slightly larger, featuring Clearview’s popular double mirror design.
Both the Compact and Next Gen mirrors are a lot smaller than Clearview’s original towing mirrors. In addition, they’re also positioned closer to the vehicle. Despite this, they still extend out just as far when you need them to. Most people don’t even realise that towing mirrors have been installed until they’ve been extended to their full position.
Designing the LC300 towing mirrors
Clearview Towing Mirrors are true replacement mirrors, designed to use the same holes, fitting and wiring as your original mirrors. However, for the LC300, Clearview has accounted for its lighter-weight Aluminium door skin and inadequate strength of the existing internal bracketry and has created a unique, patented, secondary mount design for the LC300.
“When Toyota designed their new Land Cruiser, they weren’t designing it around the aftermarket addition of towing mirrors,” said Jay Praag, co-founder of Clearview Accessories.
“We knew that we couldn’t simply attach our mirrors to the existing mounting point or position on the door as it just wasn’t going to work. We needed to move the standard mounting point forward to make it easier to see out of while towing. If we only reinforced the existing mounting point and installed our mirrors there, the driver would be constantly leaning backwards and turning their head to see anything out of the mirrors.”
“It’s important for us that when someone purchases a Clearview product, that it does what we say it’s going to do and doesn’t cause any damage to the vehicle down the track.”
