Would you camp in this SUP tent?

We take a look at the new SUP tent (stand up paddle board tent) from BAJAO.
Most of us find ourselves far more active when we hit the open road for a weekend away. Sure, there’s plenty of R&R time spent in a camp chair with a book and a cheese board. But there’s typically equal time spent hiking, swimming and activities such as stand up paddle boarding and kayaking. Some of us love stand up paddle boarding so much we could do it in our sleep, and the BAJAO Cabin SUP tent has made that seemingly possible.
Intrigued? Keep reading to find out just how you can camp overnight on your stand up paddle board (SUP).
The BAJAO Cabin SUP tent was invented by a German paddler named Christopher Mantz. His vision was to create the option of sleeping on your SUP, whether that be on land, on the roof of your vehicle or even on the water. If you do choose to sleep on the water, BAJAO have stated they do not recommend anchoring in a waterway or in the waves.
The SUP tent itself is easily installed, taking less than two minutes to set up from start to finish. This saves you precious time that you could better spend adventuring. Plus it fits on any board above 11.6 length and with a length of nearly three meters, there’s enough space for yourself and your bags inside.
It would be a super cool experience, right? As mentioned, for safety purposes BAJAO don’t recommend anchoring in a waterway or in the waves. However, they offer reassurance that the tent is very stable on the water, due to the two side pipes. These side pipes have a diameter of 15cm, meaning they widen the board by a total of 30cm. This is what provides more stability for the board. BAJAO recommends that you only anchor in knee-deep, calm water.
If you’re heading somewhere you don’t particularly feel like bringing your board along to, the BAJAO Cabin tent can be used without a SUP board underneath. You’ll have the option to sleep directly on the ground, just as you would with any other tent or swag. So really, you’re getting double bang for your buck with a versatile cabin that allows you to pick your own adventure.
Whether it’s the slow, soothing rock the water provides or simply the unique chance to tell people you camped on the water, there are many different reasons one may have for utilising the BAJAO Cabin on their next trip. So the only thing that’s left to do is ask yourself, would you camp on your SUP?
