Imagine you could enjoy a relaxing holiday in an RV without having to go through the hassle of towing the RV to the destination and setting it up yourself. Whether you’re not confident towing or simply don’t own a tow vehicle, RV delivery takes the labour out of the equation, so you can spend more time doing what you love.

Benefits of RV delivery

With RV delivery, all you need to do is book online and then simply arrive at your designated campground. What you’ll find when you get there, is an RV that’s already set up for you! When I was still living at home with my parents, my mum had a saying when I didn’t pick up after myself: “there’s no cleaning fairy!”. Turns out, what there is, is an RV fairy. She waves her wand and your RV appears. Whether there’s a wand or not is irrelevant. All you need to know is that the work is no longer on your plate!

Where can I get an RV Fairy?

Sounds pretty damn good hey. My guess is you’re already half-packed for your next adventure. The next step is to punch in some keywords to Google to find this RV delivery service. We’ll save you the trouble. One option you can check out is Camplify.

An Airbnb for RVs

Camplify is a peer-to-peer platform that connects owners of RVs with people wanting to hire one for their holiday. It allows people to enjoy the caravan holiday experience, without having to commit to purchasing one themselves. It also allows RV owners to make some money off of their vehicle! Just like Airbnb, Camplify doesn’t own any of the RVs. The listings that you’ll find on their site are owned by everyday RV owners.

Some of these owners offer RV delivery services. All you need to do is filter your search under “hire type” and make sure the option is “deliver.”

For example, Tillie in Anna Bay NSW, is a caravan that offers vintage glam. If you’ve decided not to hit the road with her and go exploring with Tillie in tow, you have the option to have her delivered. All you need to do is select a location within 150 kilometres of Nelson Bay and Tillie will be delivered and all set up ready for your arrival. If your location is within 15 km of Nelson Bay, the delivery and setup won’t cost you a cent.

Likewise with Georgie, located in Glenorie NSW. This family tourer also offers a delivery and setup service. All you need to do is turn up with your clothes and your bedding and your holiday will begin in a flash.

Who would typically use an RV delivery service?

You’ll find that people who travel to a destination that features out-of-budget hotels may use the service. Even those that are full-time travellers and go with the wind may choose an RV delivery service if they’ve arrived at a new spot only to realise all of the hotels are booked. If you find yourself in that position, it’s absolutely worth checking out if there’s an RV delivery service around!

RV delivery also accesses a unique market of people that want to holiday in an RV but don’t own a tow vehicle. RV delivery takes away that need and allows you to simply come as you are and enjoy the holiday you’ve dreamt of.

Globally loved

RV delivery isn’t unique to Australia. In the United States, RVshare operates in the same way as Airbnb, just like Camplify. Almost 40% of RVshare RV rentals were delivered in 2022. This was up from 27% in 2021 and 16% in 2020, showing a rising trend.

RVshare said its top 2021 delivery destination was the campsites at Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort. The cost of a campsite at Fort Wilderness, including full RV hookups, is $1,300 USD for a six-night stay during the first week of March 2023. For a six-person cabin at the resort itself over the same period, you’d pay $3,600 USD! Some of the $2,300 USD difference is eaten up by the RV rental and the delivery fees, but it’ll cost you significantly less than renting the resort’s cabin.

The convenience that comes with RV delivery and the time saved that’s better spent enjoying your holiday has personally gotten me over the line. What about you? Will your next holiday utilise this service? Let us know if you do!
