There is no argument that towing mirrors are a necessity and that replacement mirrors are the gold standard. However, it seems that Clearview has yet again, levelled up the game with the launch of the new Next-Gen Towing Mirrors.
The next generation in towing
We all know vehicles are pretty high-tech these days and many vehicle brands have incorporated this advanced technology into their side mirrors. As a result, we now have really cool features that we didn’t know we wanted and we don’t want to give them up. This includes outside air temperature (OAT) sensors, heating, GPS, AM-FM, blindspot monitoring systems and even 360-degree cameras.
Clearview Accessories has been manufacturing towing mirrors since 2009 and has experienced this rapid advancement of technology first-hand.
“Our customers don’t want to compromise on their vehicle’s features when they install towing mirrors, and it’s for this reason that we’ve remained at the forefront of emerging mirror technologies,” explains Mike Cowan, co-founder of Clearview Accessories.
“We have long-standing relationships with the vehicle manufacturers and work closely with them to develop OE Authorised Towing Mirrors. This becomes more and more important as technology advances and unapproved mirrors can result in fault codes and loss of functionality, such as driver assist functions.”
Clearview has been working closely with Ford Australia for the last 12 months and can now proudly launch the new Next Generation Ford Ranger and Ford Everest Towing Mirrors that matches the vehicles’ advanced features, technology and capabilities.
Although the launch of these Clearview high-tech mirrors is for the non-camera model of towing mirrors, a new 360-degree camera model is not too far away.
Mike further elaborated on the camera towing mirrors by stating, “Our new 360-degree camera-model towing mirrors have also been approved by Ford as a Ford Licenced Accessory, but we are currently awaiting stock of the coaxial cables that we require in order to commence production of these new mirrors.”
It seems that Clearview isn’t letting too much out of the bag in terms of timing before the launch of the camera-enabled models, but it’s expected that an announcement will be made at the beginning of 2023 for these next, next level towing mirrors. Stay tuned!
Is this the end of the basic towing mirror?
So, as we usher in the dawn of high-tech replacement towing mirrors, could this be the end of the basic mirror? And given how important mirrors are to our safety when towing, do we really care?
