ARB are about to release some seriously advanced driving lights and I can’t wait to get my hands on them to try them out. Here’s what we know so far.

Driving lights are one of those things that when they’re good, they’re good but when they’re bad … they’re really bad. They can also be really hard to get right. My driving lights are either too low or too high and there is no in-between. And just like my favourite uncle, one of my lights has a wok eye (although that one is my fault).

Obviously, vehicle lights that don’t illuminate the road or dirt track ahead properly make driving incredibly dangerous. I don’t think I need to explain the ‘why’ about this one. Add this to the fact that you’re towing a camper or caravan, and the danger factor increases again.

So when ARB gave us a peek at their new Intensity IQ LED driving lights, I was pretty excited. Why? These lights are packed with features that set a new gold standard in driving lights.

Here’s what we know about the new ARB Intensity IQ lights so far.

This is one set of driving lights that will do it all

The new ARB intensity IQ driving lights have been developed from the ground up and as a result, they set a new level of driving light usability. Packed with a tonne of unique features, not only are these lights incredibly modern and practical but damn…they look good too.

They’d look even better on my 4WD. It could certainly do with some class!

You can choose from thousands of beam patterns

A unique 4-optic design of LEDs (Spot, Super Spot, Flood and Midrange) provides a virtually unlimited choice of light beams. This allows you to customise the beam to suit the road conditions. How cool is that?

Both the Spot and Super Spot optics produce an even beam that is illuminated for an extended distance. The Flood optic maximises the light spread for increased foreground visibility and the Midrange optic lights up the…you guessed it…midrange area.

The beam pattern of each light can be adjusted individually to run any combination of LED designs.

You’re in control of the lights

This is where the ARB Intensity IQ driving lights get even better.  Users can monitor, adjust and configure the lights through an onboard control switch. The switch is customisable via the ARB Intensity IQ app, which is available for both Apple and Android, or the ARB Linx.

This means that you have full control of your lights at your fingertips.

Access up to eight different preset configurations with your control switch at the click of a button. The design appears to be well thought out, with users able to feel and make a quick selection without relying on actually seeing the device itself.

Other features we didn’t know we wanted until now

The ARB Intensity IQ driving lights also feature courtesy and work light attributes. Courtesy lighting means that after the ignition is turned off, you can use temporary light from the vehicle so that you don’t have to grope your way out of the car in the dark. The work light turns on the IQ lights without the vehicle high beam trigger, letting you work in the dark.

How much are they and where can I get some?

The ARB Intensity IQ driving lights are $1,995 (Australia East Coast Metro) and will be available from late November.
