Looking for a lightweight caravan that you won’t need to upgrade your tow vehicle for? Well, you’re probably going to want to take a look at the new Euro Hobby from Carlight.
Euro Caravans, available at Carlight Caravans and Trailers, has unveiled its latest and it’s so lightweight that it can be towed by most standard vehicles. With an ATM of 900kg, the Euro Hobby Twin Single/King should be a breeze to tow, even for novice caravanners.
The benefits of an ultra-lightweight caravan aren’t just in the ease of tow and the fact that you probably won’t have to upgrade your vehicle. It’s also about cheaper registration, improved fuel consumption and additional safety in an emergency stop. Based on 50 years of European craftsmanship and expertise, the Euro Hobby aims to revolutionise the way you experience the Australian coast.
Let’s take a peek inside
Two people can comfortably use this space, moving between the kitchen, bathroom and dining area. At night, the two singles and table easily convert to a king bed. If you’re travelling solo and wish to keep your table set up and simply sleep on one of the singles, this is easily done too.
The kitchen has enough space to plonk a coffee machine or a toaster, and the portable induction cooktop allows you to cook outside when the weather calls for it. You’ll also find a 65L fridge with an inbuilt freezer and a Thetford sink (hot and cold water) with a glass plate.
The Euro Hobby’s ensuite (yep, it even has an ensuite at this weight!) features a Thetford cassette toilet with an automatic flush and a removable shower head. The basin is a clever space-saving design that allows you to wash your hands, then pack it away to open up the space once again.
High-quality laminated marine plywood is used on the bench-tops and cabinetry with storage space found in a hanging closet, overhead cupboards and under the seats.
On the outside
Hail-resistant and watertight, the Euro Hobby is made from GRP fibreglass in Poland, sustainably sourced plywood from Sweden, and a fully hot-dipped galvanised chassis made in Italy. In fact, some insurance companies will offer a discount for this full fibreglass caravan. Appliances featured are well-known brands such as Thetford, Truma and Dometic.
Powering your getaway
Coming standard with a 100Ah deep cycle AGM battery to run the lights, water pump, fridge and USB charging sockets, you can also upgrade to lithium to further reduce weight and increase capacity. Connect additional appliances or a solar blanket via the additional Anderson plugs and cigarette lighter. Many customers also choose to add a portable power station to their Euro Hobby so they can camp off-grid, which can be stored in the front tacklebox.
Practical upgrades
Carlight Caravans has introduced a custom-fit caravan cover for the Euro Hobby, with an access door aligned with the entrance so that you can access the RV even with the cover in place. Another practical upgrade is the Dometic Rally Air Pro Inflatable Annexe, a game-changer for those seeking extra space and comfort on their travels. Complete with a floor mat, underbody skirt, hand pump, limpet kit and a carry bag, this annexe essentially doubles your living space.
Specs:
The Euro Hobby is not designed to go off-road on 4WD tracks, but as you know, not everyone is keen to do that anyway. What the Euro Hobby is suitable for, is for those looking for the benefits of a smaller caravan and great bang for their buck. Coming in at well under $50K, this is a beautiful little caravan to spend long weekends or weeklong jaunts exploring the best of Australia’s coastline.
To reserve your own Euro Hobby, head to Carlight Caravans and Trailers for more information and to check out some of their other models, some of which are even lighter than this one.
