To make this straightforward DIY bucket washing machine for your caravan or motorhome, you’ll need a bucket with a lid, a toilet plunger and a Stanley knife to cut a small hole in the lid. It’s a very cost-effective project and it only takes 10 minutes to make.
Some of Camp Winnie’s helpful tips for washing your clothes on the road include opting for wrinkle-free clothes, avoiding whites in the wilderness, using low-sud laundry liquid and getting at least four wears out of your underwear. Just kidding on that last one.
Once you’ve made your DIY caravan washing machine, it’s as simple as chucking your dirty clothes in the bucket, adding water and detergent, and then using the plunger to agitate your clothes. If you’re on the road with kids, now is as good a time as any to give them a job. Of course, if you really don’t feel like washing, you could always put the bucket in your caravan shower area and let the corrugations do the agitating for you.
