Top 10 Touring Caravans in Australia for Beginners

Perhaps the most traditional style of caravan, the tourer is still well represented in the Australian RV market for its go almost anywhere utility. While what represents a touring caravan has become blurred by a changed Australian RV market, what defines the tourer here is a full-height caravan that has a primarily on-road touring focus.
Some caravans on this list do have some mild off-road capability, as it is becoming increasingly popular among caravanners to head off the bitumen for at least part of their holidays. There are many more touring vans than those listed here, and even the models we have selected often have other layouts or options to choose from. Here are ten touring caravans we’ve rounded up for you to select your ideal touring companion.
The 542PH is the larger of two models in the Adora range (the two single berths Adora 492DT being the other), offering a three-berth layout in a lightweight 19ft (body length) European touring caravan. This van can be towed by a wider range of vehicles than typical for caravans of its size, thanks to its relatively light 150kg maximum towball download weight. The Adora has plenty of the more typical features buyers now expect for its relatively low price, such as an ensuite, air-conditioning, LED TV/DVD, three-burner gas stove, oven and grill, a medium/large three-way 165L fridge/freezer and 10-litre gas/electric hot water. If you want off-grid capacity, you’ll have to put that towards your accessories budget as such items are not standard here.
