A global first lands in the RV space

Known for their portable power stations, solar panels, power inverters, and power accessories – Renogy has been recognised by Frost & Sullivan for creating the world’s first smart, portable solid-state battery for mobile energy storage. The new line-up will be officially launched at Caravan Salon 2025 in Düsseldorf and is being called the next generation of lithium technology.

For travellers hitting the road in an RV, this represents genuinely exciting news. Solid-state design promises safer, more reliable, and longer-lasting batteries. That’s the sort of practical upgrade that matters when you’re powering your fridge, air-conditioning, lights and even induction cooktops while enjoying those perfect off-grid camping spots.

Why solid-state lithium changes the game

Lithium batteries have served us well for years, but they still come with limitations. From safety concerns to reduced performance in extreme Australian weather conditions. Renogy’s new solid-state lithium iron phosphate (LiFePO4) batteries replace most of the flammable liquid components with a stable solid layer. Here’s what that means for your travels:

  • Better safety – significantly less risk of fire or dangerous leakage.
  • Compact and lighter – up to 20% smaller and 23% lighter than equivalent lithium batteries, giving you more storage space.
  • Longer life – around 6000 cycles at 80% depth of discharge, so you’ll get years more reliable service.
  • Performance in tough conditions – improved operation whether you’re touring through cold mountain regions or scorching outback summers.

The new Renogy solid-state range

Renogy has announced three practical models to get you started:

  • 104Ah slimline – an ultra-thin unit (just 60mm thick) that can fit under seats or into narrow storage spaces, perfect for vans and smaller campers where every centimetre counts.
  • 120Ah pro – a versatile option with higher power output, ideal for caravans or hybrid campers where you need to balance space and performance for comfortable family travel.
  • 240Ah pro – the flagship model, designed for larger caravans and motorhomes with substantial power needs such as multiple fridges, air-conditioning units or induction cooking for extended family stays.

All three models include Renogy’s advanced battery management system, Bluetooth monitoring so you can check your power levels from your phone, communication systems for easy setup, IP67 waterproofing to handle Australian conditions, and a reassuring 7 to 8 year warranty for peace of mind.

What it means for RV travel

Renogy’s move into solid-state technology signals an important shift in where RV power systems are heading. More reliable energy storage means greater confidence when you’re staying off-grid for longer periods, running larger appliances, and reducing concerns about battery safety while you’re exploring with your family.

We’re looking forward to testing the new Renogy range to see how it performs in real-world RV setups across Australia’s diverse conditions. We’ll keep you updated with practical insights as soon as we get our hands on them.
