MDC unveils their smallest caravan yet

The Forte 9+ is a hybrid off-road pop-top caravan that’s lighter and smaller than any previous MDC model. This of course, makes it ideal for those who don’t want the expense of upgrading their 4WD to tow their new caravan. With a tare weight of just over 1400kg, the MDC Forte 9+ can be towed by many SUVs and even some full-sized sedans.

Standard features on the MDC Forte 9+

The standard features on the MDC Forte 9+ are anything but standard. In fact, you would usually find yourself paying extra for some of these, making the RRP of $34,990 pretty darn good value for money.

One such feature is the 525W of roof-mounted solar panels, making it easier than most to recover your batteries during the day and allowing you to stay off-grid for longer. This is backed up with a Projecta electronics package that allows multiple charging options and real-time monitoring through the BM500-BT Blue Tooth monitor and smart device app. Also standard is a 200Ah Lifepro+ Lithium battery.

Last but not least for surprising features that are standard on the MDC Forte 9+ is the 270-degree free-standing awning. With a full annex, it allows you to nearly triple your living space in a matter of minutes.

External features

In addition to the above, you’ll find a slide-out kitchen with a steel 3-burner gas hob cooktop, a fridge slide and plumbed water with a 120L freshwater tank. The external shower includes a wall-mounted ensuite tent and provides a bit of practicality, as does the wall-mounted drop-down servery table. The patented Aerolocker stores your diesel heather, gas bottle and jerry cans while allowing a better turning circle for your tray back tow tug.

Internal features

The MDC Forte 9+ sleeps two on a 150mm thick Queen mattress. Other creature comforts include a built-in hot water system, diesel heater, seating and table. As expected, you’ll also find LED lighting and several 12V charging points.

Chassis

The chassis on the MDC Forte 9+ is 120mm x 50mm galvanised steel with a Cruisemaster DO35 hitch. This is partnered with a 10” swing-up jockey wheel, alloy wheels with mud terrain tyres and a spare, X-TRACK independent coil spring suspension with 2 x Tough Trax shocks on each side and four drop-down stabiliser legs.
