JB Caravans has just released three new dual-axle variants of its popular full off-road Gator X, joining the existing single-axle range. Marking the first time the award-winning Gator X has been available in dual-axle configuration, the new 18ft 6in models bring enhanced towing stability, bigger payload capacity, and boosted off-grid capabilities to off-road enthusiasts.

Enhanced towing and off-grid capability

Riding on Cruisemaster’s ATX Level 3 airbag suspension with AL-KO ABS, the Gator X dual axle models offer a 3.5-tonne towing capacity and improved stability on corrugated roads. Traditionally only available in single-axle configuration, the dual-axle setup now provides the option of a bigger payload for those who need the extra capacity.

Power and solar capacity have been significantly upgraded across all three layouts. Each model features an 800W solar array paired with a 5kW EcoFlow battery management system, providing enough juice to run air-conditioning and high-draw appliances while camping off-grid. The system includes a 3,600W inverter with 6,000W surge protection, ensuring you won’t be left without power when you need it most.

Starlink passthrough comes standard on all three models, making it easier than ever to stay connected in remote locations.

Three versatile layouts

The new Gator X dual axle range offers three distinct floorplans, each measuring 18ft 6in in body length and featuring queen-size north-south innerspring beds with walk-around access on all three sides.

18’6 Front Door Cafe

Campsite chefs will appreciate the expanded kitchen in this layout, which features more benchtop space and additional cabinetry including a two-door full-height pantry. The cafe-style seating with JB headrests provides comfortable dining for two.

18’6 Front Door L Lounge

This layout prioritises bathroom comfort with a larger ensuite featuring a deeper shower and concealed washing machine. The two-door pantry still makes an appearance, ensuring you don’t sacrifice kitchen storage for that extra bathroom space.

18’6 Front Door Club Lounge

If you love entertaining or simply appreciate room to stretch out, the club lounge provides the most generous living space of the three layouts. The facing lounge configuration creates an inviting space perfect for relaxing after a day on the tracks.

Same tough Gator X DNA

Like every Gator X, these new dual-axle models retain the tough specifications that made the single-axle version so popular. The Raptor-coated chassis provides excellent protection against rust and rock damage, while Raptor-coated toolboxes with slide-out trays offer secure storage for generators, fridges, and recovery gear.

Interior features include bevelled stone-effect benchtops, luxury diamond leather upholstery, and inverter power points throughout. The 224L compressor fridge, reverse-cycle air-conditioning, Fusion sound system, and 24-inch smart TV ensure comfort levels match the off-road capability.

All three models are available in a choice of exterior finishes, including Stucco walls or Alucomp walls, allowing buyers to customise the look to suit their preferences.
