Introducing the Jayco JRV‑X anniversary campervan

Australia’s biggest RV maker has revealed a special Volkswagen Crafter–based JRV‑X to celebrate half a century in the business. Built on the Crafter all‑wheel‑drive platform and limited to just 70 units, this 22‑foot campervan pays homage to the Kombi vans of the 1970s with its blue and white two‑tone exterior. Jayco says the van fuses its heritage with modern design to create a head‑turner that’s ready for touring.

Retro style, modern comfort

Inside, a flip‑up rear bed with under‑bed storage and a 152‑litre compressor fridge make smart use of space. The cabin’s Oxford Blue and Natural Oak décor offers a nostalgic feel with a contemporary twist. Jayco’s motorised division boss Nathan Matthews describes the project as a fusion of European‑style functionality with a classic two‑tone VW aesthetic.

Power and capability of the JRV‑X campervan

Power comes from Volkswagen’s bi‑turbo four‑cylinder diesel engine producing 130 kW and 410 Nm of torque. It’s paired with an eight‑speed automatic transmission and 4Motion all‑wheel drive, promising plenty of performance for open‑road cruising and the grip to explore gravel tracks. The Crafter platform also brings driver aids such as blind‑spot monitoring and park assist for easier manoeuvring.

Touring features built into the JRV‑X campervan

The Jayco JRV‑X campervan is designed for couples who want home comforts on the road. Standard kit includes front swivel seats and a dinette, a combination shower and toilet, 105‑litre fresh and 65‑litre grey‑water tanks and a 300 Ah lithium battery with a 200 W solar panel. There’s also a rooftop air conditioner, a 24‑inch TV/DVD with sound bar, a twin‑burner cooktop, microwave and a continuous hot‑water system. Together with the high‑bed layout, these features make the van as practical as it is eye‑catching.

Pricing and availability

The JRV‑X is on sale now through Jayco dealers, priced from $154,990 plus on‑road costs. Only 70 units will be built, and the company expects demand to be strong. Jayco notes that this release is not only a nod to its past but also reflects a shift in campervan demographics, with younger travellers joining the traditional Grey Nomad market.
