Australia’s biggest-selling vehicle, the Ford Ranger, has been recalled together the Everest over an engine defect.

Ford says the fault could cause the engine to stall while in motion, potentially putting motorists at risk of “serious injury or death”.

The motoring giant has recalled 13,490 models fitted with the 3.0L Lion turbocharged V6 engine, affecting 2022 to 2025 models.

The recall notice, lodged with the Australian Department of Infrastructure on April 30, says affected owners will be notified in writing and urged to contact their Ford dealer to have the defect fixed, free of charge.

The manufacturing defect may cause the left-hand engine camshaft sprocket to fracture. “As a result, the engine could stall leading to a sudden loss of motive power whilst driving,” the recall says.

“A sudden loss of motive power whilst driving increases the risk of an accident, which may result in serious injury or death to vehicle occupants and other road users.”

Affected Ford owners should contact the Ford Customer Relationship Centre on 133 673.
