Avida has launched a new motorhome and as the name suggests, the Avida Diversion appears to have just the right amount of luxury to be the escape we all need in life sometimes. While we haven’t had a chance to test the brand-new Avida Diversion on road yet, it looks pretty good so far.
Based on a Mercedes Sprinter long-wheel-base chassis and coming in at a smidge under seven metres in length, the Avida Diversion sits on 17-inch alloys with a seven-speed auto transmission. It comes standard with grey metallic paint but there are numerous colour options to choose from in terms of decals.
Let’s take a peek inside the Avida Diversion
Inside the Avida Diversion, you’ll find a well-equipped kitchen with a two-burner gas cooktop, sink and microwave. The fridge/freezer is a 150-litre compressor combo. Store your food and kitchenware in the slide-out pantry, drawers, cupboards and overhead cupboards.
Luxury is found in the most important places, the bedroom and bathroom areas. Although you will also find it elsewhere in this Avida Diversion as well! The double-bed drops from the ceiling at the touch of a button. So if you made the bed before you put it away, it will be ready for some shut-eye.
Mood lighting can be found with downlights under the bed and reading lights for when the bed is lowered. USB ports are within easy reach to charge devices.
Moving onto the bathroom, it’s fully self-contained with a toilet, shower and hand basin. The on-demand water heater ensures you can enjoy comforts from home and the two-piece swing-out bathroom means you can get dressed in privacy.
If it’s too hot outside, crank the air-con and relax inside on the leather lounges.
Outside features on the Avida Diversion
Outside you’ll find an electric entry step, tinted rear barn door windows and an electric awning. The awning boasts lighting and can be lowered at the touch of a button. A BBQ fitting can be found outside for those times you want to make the most of the good weather.
Safety and other features
Solar, lithium battery and an integrated 2,000VA inverter will keep you away from it all for longer. And as you would expect from any new vehicle, centralised control is via a touch-screen with a multi-function steering wheel.
Safety is everything we expect from Mercedes with 360-degree cameras, reversing camera, brake assist, lane keeping assist, active distance assist, blind spot assist and even crosswind assist.

Starting at $167,500 plus on-roads and dealer delivery, the Avida Diversion appears to fill the gap between lower-cost campervans with no frills and much larger offerings that can be a little over the top in terms of luxury and affordability.
