From rainforest mountains to vast red plains, ancient food sources to exotic new flavours – this foodie trail has it all!
This episode has our caravanning trio travelling through the beautiful South Burnett region of Queensland. They begin the adventure in the majestic Bunya Mountains, where a very special food source has been bringing people together for thousands of years. And while Emma is sampling our indigenous food, Tim is introduced to a seriously tasty Mediterranean morsel.
Then, it’s down the mountain to the tiny town of Maidenwell, where a surprising local store delivers a gourmet punch no one saw coming. The team finds a secret swimming hole to cool off in, before setting at the Ezytrails at a free camp in the best possible location: next to the town’s one and only pub!
The final destination is Kingaroy, who rich red soil plains make it the perfect place for growing peanuts. In fact, it’s the peanut capital of Australia! Tim meets a classic local character who runs one of Australia’s first food trucks, while Emma finds out if these hot, dry conditions can produce decent wine. We find a campsite at a winery, where we finish up the adventure with a happy hour party next to the vines.
